Phil was an excellent loan originator. He's very good at what he does and always promptly answered my questions. My experience with the approval team at Mutual of Omaha is another story entirely. It seems like this review is just for Phil, and so I want to make sure he gets the recognition he deserves for being a consummate professional. But I was disappointed with the service of the approval team. I did not feel prioritized and was incredibly anxious about being able to close on time. I signaled my concerns many times but did not feel like they were heard. Again, no part of this negative portion of the review applies to Phil. But I needed to somehow signal my dissatisfaction with the approval team. Examples of how I was not prioritized: (1) I was still receiving questions about the loan after getting the clear to close and the day before closing. (2) I was never given a hard timeline for when I would receive the clear to close, which forced me to renegotiate the mortgage contingency with the sellers multiple times. (3) I was told that the only holdup with my clear to close was the appraisal, but it still took 48 hours to get the CTC after the appraisal. I could go on, but the bottom line is that I went with mutual of Omaha because you had the most competitive rates (and Phil was such a good salesman). But if I could do it again, I would be willing to pay a slightly higher rate for my mortgage if I could be assured that the company would make it their top priority to give me the confidence that I could close on time. Thank you for your time. Again, I cannot sing the praises of Phil enough. He should be promoted. But I wish the rest of the company had his fire and commitment.
